Active RFID Asset Tracking   Active RFID hardware configuration includes a RFID reader that monitors the designated area for the presence of RFID tag(s). The tag configuration includes a battery that allows the tag to transmit signals (beacon) at a predetermined rate. The reader monitors the area for a tag beacon. Since the tags are self-powered, Active RFID has read range capabilities of up to 1500 feet.   Active RFID is also be used for the Real-Time location of assets. The readers are placed in designated areas that can monitor all tags located within those areas. Since these tags beacon at regular intervals, if the tag is 'seen' by a reader within this area, the location of the tag is then established. As the tag moves from one area to another, the tag location will update with the Real-Time location, every time the tag beacons.
